As part of its corporate strategy, Avery Dennison has worked closely with the converting and printing industries in India to grow their businesses and take advantage of opportunities provided by the spectacular growth of the Indian economy during the last ten years. The Company recently opened a new pressure-sensitive materials plant in Pune to complement its original facility in New Delhi.
"We at Avery Dennison, believe there is an opportunity to contribute to the vast untapped Indian market, which needs to be explored by potential users affiliated to the printing and packaging industry," said Raj Srinivasan, Managing Director, Materials India, Avery Dennison (India) Pvt. Ltd. "Avery Dennison strives to bring innovations and new ideas to the industry – innovations like Avery Dennison self-adhesive labels that can significantly enhance businesses; we aim to promote these benefits of technological advancements in the Indian market."
With the advent of pressure-sensitive labels, Avery Dennison has made significant contributions to the labeling industry. While traditional technology is well suited for short-term use, the latest enhancements by Avery Dennison have ensured high success rates for long-run wide web applications. These labels which are designed for all conditions, are also cost effective and offer undifferentiated value for both the customers and label stock manufacturers, thus enhancing brand image.
Examples of how this technology has helped retailers abound in the marketplace. Avery Dennison, under the Fasson brand, helped Anheuser Busch, the largest brewing company in the United States, increase their market share by approximately 1.5 percent. After a lull period, Tostitos Salsa switched to the no label look and achieved a 5-10 percent spike in sales. Another success story is that of the biscuit company Chips Ahoy!, which used the re-closure Snack n Seal technology, to help increase sales 18-20 percent. Companies in the United States have especially been receptive to this technology, making it a big success. In the same way, Avery Dennison aims to drive the food and beverages segments in the India markets to increase usage of this self-adhesive label technology.
"As a part of the industry, it is essential that we continue to help brand owners make their brands stand out at the ‘moment of truth’ on retailers’ shelves. Pressure- sensitive technology has helped the industry grow leaps and bounds. Avery Dennison is committed to working in partnership with Indian label converters to develop new businesses and help to grow together," continued Srinivasan.
